It also shows several tips and tricks you need to pay attention to while using this Mac DVD to iTunes Converter to convert DVD to iTunes Mac.

Step 1. Launch DVD to iTunes Converter for Mac and add DVD Movie ( free download )

Drag & drop DVD disc icon on the desktop to the program. Or go to “File” menu, choose “Load DVD” to locate the DVD movies (including DVD Video, DVD IFO file, DVD folder, dvdmedia file) you want to add.

The defaulted settings only read main feature of the DVD movie for conversion, without DVD menu and the movie just starts playing right away. If you want to import the whole DVD, go to “Preference” and unchecked “Load main title of the DVD”.
Subtitle: Regular DVD movies usually have several subtitles such as English, French, German, etc. You can select the one you prefer so that you can convert DVD with subtitle on Mac. You can also delete the subtitle by selecting ‘No Subtitle’
Audio Track: Select an audio track from the available audio tracks of your DVD movie.

Step 2. Output Settings

DVD to iTunes Converter for Mac provides a variety of optimized presets for Apple devices including iPad, iPod, iPhone, Apple TV and Apple Software like iMovie, Final Cut Pro.

Step 3. Start DVD Movie Conversion

After the output settings, you can just hit the Convert button to start converting your movies. You can choose to shut down your computer or open the output folder after the conversion.

Tip 1. Split DVD chapters and capture DVD clips

If you want to capture a clip from the current title/chapter, move the pointer over the thumbnail of the DVD you want to split and choose “split” from the pop-up menu. In the Split window, you can choose split DVD into chapters automatically. Or you can drag the slider to the exact point you want to cut the video, and click “scissors” icon. When the settings are done, close the window and click “Yes” in pop-up dialogue to save the settings.

Tip 2. Crop DVD Video

In the Crop window, select an output aspect ratio and the available options are: Keep Original, Full Screen, 16:9 and 4:3. You can enter the crop values manually or drag the rectangular selection box to select the displaying area.

Tip 3. Video Effect

In the Video Adjustment window, drag the slider to set the brightness, contrast, saturation and volume. You can also choose a special effect from the Effect drop-down list to apply to your DVD movie.

Tip 4. Capture Pictures

After the files added, you can preview the movie in the preview window on the left of the main interface. While previewing the movie, you can capture pictures by clicking the Snapshot button.

Have you ever wanted to rip a DVD movie but eventually got tied up in knots when trying to choose a suitable video codec or understand what “VBV buffer rate” even meant? What about that day you were anxious to watch a video on your brand new iPhone, only just to find out that it doesn’t work because it’s of the wrong format?! You might have faced other hurdles when downloading YouTube videos, removing a file’s DRM protection or burning a video to a DVD.

Yes, you can install a program for each of these tasks and get the job done. Nonetheless, you can take a wiser decision and dodge a lot of pain and frustration by just buying one program that can do it all. This application would be Daniusoft Video Converter Ultimate ( download the latest version for a try ), which has the following capabilities:

User Interface & Usability

The program has a simple user interface without any settings buried deep inside it or difficult to access. You can add video and audio files to a list and specify each item’s output format and quality, all from within the main window. Trimming, editing and transferring files to a device can all be done via the buttons at the top. Once you’ve set your list and are satisfied with the settings, click on the “Start” button to start conversion or the “Burn DVD” if you want to make a DVD. Unlike some other media converters, Daniusoft Video Converter Ultimate’s design integrates all features with one another and keeps everything in one place, making it very efficient to use.

I’ve found it easy to learn and became familiar with its interface quickly. In fact, after quickly skimming through the guide that appeared after installation, I was able to jump right into using it. There are, however, some features which I think are important that the program lacks. For instance, there is neither an option for minimizing it to the tray nor a “Clear” button to create a new list. Furthermore, while converting files, it only tells us the percentage completed and time remaining. There’s no mention of the time elapsed, conversion speed, etc.. These things aren’t major, though they are expected by users.

Supported File Formats and Devices

Daniusoft Video Converter Ultimate is a definite winner when it comes to the video and audio formats it can convert to. It offers a multitude of common formats: AVI, WMV, OGG, MP4, MKV, FLV – you name it! Plus, it can convert from file formats which are not available on the output list (like AMR). Not sure which format works best on your smartphone? No need to worry because it also allows you to choose a device instead of a file format. Depending on your choice, the video converter will decide which format is eligible and even optimize its output settings especially for that device. For the full list of supported file formats and devices, click here.

Apart from being presented in an aesthetically pleasing way and its ability to perform batch processing, I was amazed to see devices recently released like the iPad being supported! If you’re a tech-savvy user, you can alter advanced settings such as the encoder used, bit rate and frame frequency by clicking on the “Advanced…” button on the main window. In addition, you can save your own preferences as a user-defined profile that can be easily accessed from the same menu.

Features

Media Converter: This is the application’s core feature. As we stated earlier, Daniusoft Video Converter Ultimate can convert audio and video files to a wide range of common file formats. The time conversion takes is affected by many factors like the file’s size, its output resolution and the computer’s specifications. On my computer, it generally took less than 45 minutes to convert a whole movie (~700-900 MB). Converting a HD movie in MKV to a high-quality AVI with HD standards took about 2 hours to complete 50%. All in all, I didn’t face any major issues with this feature and everything went smoothly.

DVD Ripper: By ripping a DVD video, you make a copy of it on your hard disk drive as a single video file. This can make life easier as you can watch it anytime without having to insert the DVD. The multipurpose program can rip content from DVD-Videos, DVD folders, INF files and ISO images. The application managed to correctly detect the movies, scenes and bonus features of almost all of the DVDs I tried. As an ordinary user, the task was piece of cake and the quality of the DVD-rips was very good. It’s advisable that you rip just the first few minutes of the DVD video (using the “Clip” tool) to see how the output looks. This is because sometimes there might be a large black region around the actual video. If this happens, simply crop the screen by using the “Edit” feature or try changing the resolution from the “Advanced” settings.

DRM Removal: Digital right management
(DRM) is employed by many large vendors and online music stores in order to inhibit undesired usage of the content provided. This is another attempt to try to prevent digital piracy. Yet legitimate users can be negatively affected and constrained by it. Consequently, the application provides DRM removal for authorized users. It can banish DRM protection from the following formats: WMV, WMA, iTunes M4P, M4A, M4V, AAC, M4B and ASF. Unluckily, I was unable to fully test this feature and so can’t give feedback about it.

DVD Burner: One reason why you might want to burn videos on to a DVD is to be able to play it on your DVD player and watch it on TV. Similar to video conversion, after adding the desired items to the list, you can specify the output’s quality, TV standard and aspect ratio. The fact that the amount of disc space required is given just before burning can be annoying for some people. Daniusoft Video Converter Ultimate can add a DVD motion menu as well. The menu consists of a title, a background image and navigation buttons (“Play” and “Scenes”). The templates offered mostly have vivid colours and cheerful backgrounds, ideally suited for family content and anniversaries. Notwithstanding, you can customize them by changing the background image and adding some background music. It’s worth noting that only the first minute of the audio file you choose – as your background music – will be played and repeated. If you want to effortlessly produce neat DVD menus, then rest assured because that’s exactly what it does. On the other hand, if you’re looking for something very customizable and advanced, you might find it very limited.

Device Transfer: You can directly transfer files to different players including BlackBerry, PSP and iPod. The last example wasn’t a typo! It can send files to Apple devices without using iTunes!

Youtube Downloader: Daniusoft Video Converter Ultimate can download videos from YouTube and other video-sharing sites. You can find out the websites it can download from by clicking here. The all-in-one program first downloads the videos and then converts them from flash video format (FLV) to whichever format you pick. I was least satisfied with this feature. As you know, many YouTube videos now come in different resolutions (360p, 480p, 780p HD, etc.). Sadly, I was unable to select an output resolution because I could only copy and paste the video’s URL in the program. Plus, sometimes I got mixed up which video is which because it doesn’t save the video names. Hopefully these things will be improved in future versions.

Phew! That was a lot :). In conclusion, without a doubt I’d recommended this program. It has made my life easier, and I wish it makes yours too. Your comments are always welcome, so feel free to share your thoughts. For more information, pay a visit to the product’s page. You can download a free trail from there. However it comes with a three-minute restriction on converted files.

Step 1. Launch DVD Ripper for Mac and add DVD Movie ( free download )

Drag & drop DVD disc icon on the desktop to the program. Or go to “File” menu, choose “Load DVD” to locate the DVD movies (including DVD Video, DVD IFO file, DVD folder, dvdmedia file) you want to add.

The defaulted setting only read main feature of the DVD movie for conversion, without DVD menu and the movie just starts playing right away.

Select an output format: For example, you can select ‘MOV’ when you want to rip DVD to QuickTime on Mac, and the default setting works great. This DVD ripper for Mac can also rip DVD to MP4, AVI, M4V, 3GP, MPG, MPEG, FLV on Mac OS X and convert DVD from PAL to NTSC. If you don’t know much about video formats, you can select a format according to the name of your portable player.

Set Video and audio solutions: If you want to resize output video files or tailor settings for specific use, you can click the “Settings” button to open the Settings window and set video resolution, frame rate, bit rate, encoder, etc.

Step 3. Start DVD Movie Conversion

After the output settings, you can just hit the Convert button to start converting your movies. You can choose to shut down your computer or open the output folder after the conversion.

There are a few tips and tricks you won’t miss out on while using this DVD Ripper for Mac to rip DVD on your Mac machine.

You can also crop the DVD video, apply a video effect, capture pictures, etc.

It is recommended that you choose iMedia Converter for Mac if you want to both rip DVD and convert video on your Mac machine.

Step 2. Add iTunes M4P/M4V/M4B files

You can import the DRM M4P/M4V/M4B files in three ways:

a. Load files by clicking the “Add…” button.

b. Directly drag and drop files to the left main window.

c. Right click on the left main window, click “Add files”.

Step 3. Select the output format

By clicking the “Convert audio to:” or “Convert video to:” box, you can select the output format for the source M4P M4V files. For example, if you want to watch the DRM iTunes M4V on your PSP, you can choose “Game Hardware” from the profile category list and choose “PSP Video MPEG-4(*.mp4) as the output format.

Note: This DRM Converter also allows you to customize the video/audio parameters for the output files if you are not satisfied with the default settings or cannot find the most appropriate output format for your specific mobile player. Just click the “Settings…” button to make the settings.

Step 4. Start to convert M4P M4V files

Click the “Start” button to begin to convert M4P M4V files. Then, you can enjoy the iTunes music and video without any limitation.

The Apple iPhone 4 is everything that a new piece of technology should be: It’s innovative, attractive, and ahead of its competition. In comparison, previous iPhone upgrades seem inconsequential–that’s how much iPhone 4 brings to the table.

The phone will ship on June 24, priced at $199 for the 16GB model and $299 for the 32GB model (in white or black).

Premium Look

I spent some hands-on time with the new handset at the Apple event. I’ll start with the visuals: It’s stylish. Whereas the iPhone 3GS looks and feels plasticky, the iPhone 4 is svelte and has a premium feel. Surprisingly, it achieves that impression while retaining the same general design, although the edges appear a bit more squared than before.

It’s noticeably slimmer than the iPhone 3GS, measuring 0.37 inch deep versus the iPhone 3GS’s thickness of 0.48 inch (that translates to 2 percent less). The iPhone 4 is also slightly narrower, 2.31 inches to 2.44 inches. The weight stays the same at 4.8 ounces, but the tweaks to the dimensions make the current iPhone 3GS seem downright kludgy in comparison. (See all iPhone 4 specs.)

However, it’s the aesthetic design touches that make the iPhone 4 stand out. The overall design screams elegance–from the rounded, individual volume up and down buttons that replace the plastic volume rocker on the iPhone 3GS to the ring/silent switch and the power/sleep button up top. The face and back are made of glass that is specially treated to withstand scratches and oily fingers, according to Apple. The side edging is aluminum, and doubles as the device’s three cellular and wireless antennas.

Sharp Display

Of course, the iPhone 4 isn’t just about cosmetic enhancements, pleasing as they are. What makes this phone such a technological improvement is what’s inside the handset.

Like its predecessor, the iPhone 4 has a 3.5-inch display. But the new phone’s display doubles the resolution to a 960-by-640-pixel IPS display. At 326 pixels per inch, this is the highest resolution available on a phone to date.

That display truly makes a difference. Whereas the iPhone 3GS’s text–in the menus, in apps, or on Web pages–appears thick, fuzzy, and undefined, the iPhone 4′s text is razor sharp, even when enlarged (as I tried doing when viewing a PDF).

The new “Retina display”–so named because it surpasses the number of pixels the human retina can process–also greatly improves the sharpness, clarity, and visible detail of images.

In both cases, I’d liken the magnitude of difference to that between a standard-definition 80p DVD and a high-definition 1080p Blu-ray Disc: When you view both on an HDTV, the differences are striking. And once you see them, you can’t go back.

The real value of the new display will become evident for people who spend time reading on the iPhone 4. I expect the display will make reading a more pleasurable experience (although, clearly, limits will remain given the inherently modest screen size–modest, at least, as compared with handsets such as the Sprint Evo 4G, which has a 4.3-inch screen, and the much larger 9.7-inch iPad screen).

iBooks Goes Mobile

The high-res display, coupled with the addition of iBooks on the iPhone 4 (and with iOS 4 upgrades), makes the iPhone a more relevant e-reader. iBooks retains its structure, appearance, and function from what we’ve already seen on the Apple iPad; and with this OS’s ability to sync the iPad, desktop, and iPhone, readers gain the flexibility to move seamlessly among devices. This capability is available for Amazon’s and Barnes and Noble’s respective e-readers, as well, but not for other competitors.

iBooks also gains a few new features previously unavailable on the iPad. You can now create notes and bookmarks, and see those notes, bookmarks, and highlights in the table of contents. I suspect that the notes remain trapped in line–for example, there’s no way to create cheat sheets, summaries, or other such personalized shortcuts that you could then utilize on your computer or elsewhere–but these new functions are a step in the right direction.

The major new feature in iBooks is its native support for PDFs. You’ll find tabs for both books and PDFs. Each one gets a bookshelf or list view (your choice). You can add PDFs via e-mail or Safari, and PDFs can sync back to iTunes and to other Apple devices such as the iPad or iPod Touch.

iPhone 4: A Computer in Miniature

The iPhone 4 uses Apple’s A4 CPU, the same processor powering the Apple iPad. And it runs the newly renamed iOS 4 operating system (which the iPad will also use, starting in the fall).

As part of iOS 4, the iPhone 4 gains a bevy of capabilities. One of them–multitasking–feels long overdue, but as with Apple’s long-awaited cut-and-paste feature, the company delivers on the promise of making multitasking work smoothly.

Quickly double-tap on the home button to pull up a pane that shows which apps are open. From there, you can swipe horizontally through the apps that the iPhone 4 has retained in either a running or suspended state.

When you find the app you want, you just click on the icon. The app will then resume its activity, and, if written to take advantage of this new feature, it will pick up precisely where you left off. At the very least, reaccessing the app will be faster.

Comparative Use Tests

Let’s take the example of the side-by-side tests I did with an iPhone 3GS (running iPhone OS 3.1) and the iPhone 4. I navigated between the Safari Web browser and the Photos application and back again to Safari, and then back again to Photos.

iPhone 4: On the iPhone 4 using iOS 4, the phone jumped quickly and smoothly between the apps, with virtually no pause or hesitation. I left a fully drawn Web page in Safari to go to Photos, navigated to a folder within Photos, and then to a picture in the middle of that folder. When I popped back to Safari, I resumed at the fully drawn Web page, and when I jumped back to Photos, I was looking at the same photo I’d left moments earlier.

iPhone 3GS: That same exercise on the iPhone 3GS required the Web page to draw the first time. To change apps, I had to press the home button to exit Safari. I then went into the Photos app and found my image in its album. To go back to Safari, I pushed the home button to return to the home screen and then clicked on Safari. (On one pass, the page loaded immediately; on another, it did not). I then pressed the home button to return to the home screen, selected Photos again–and found myself back at the top-level list of Photo Albums, as opposed to drilling down to a specific image within a specific folder.

To close an app out of the multitasking bar, you click on the icon and hold. The icons then get a red button with a dash; touch there, and you can close the app.

Equally as elegant as multitasking is Apple’s implementation of Folders, an increasingly necessary addition. To add icons into a folder, you simply drag one icon on top of the other to create the folder; the folder automatically gets the name of the category those apps share. Or, if you prefer, you can rename the folder on the spot. You can pack a maximum of 12 apps within a single folder (that gives you three rows of four apps across the home screen). And, thanks to the addition of Folders, you can now add up to a maximum of 2160 apps.

Dramatic Camera Boost

The iPhone 4 brings much-desired camera and video recording advances, as well. The primary camera on the back bumps up from 3 megapixels to 5 megapixels, while retaining the same pixel size (which can further improve image quality). The camera also gains an LED flash, a backlit sensor, and an integrated 5X zoom. The camera now lets you shoot in high-def, at 720p, 30 frames per second; in addition, video gains the tap-to-focus feature already available on the camera.

I did not test these features–the lighting at the demo room was a bit funky, and I would have only been able to view the results on the demo device. However, the examples that Apple showcased during its keynote were compelling evidence that these upgrades are indeed worthy ones. These will be among the first features I’ll try when I get my hands on a device for our full review.

I didn’t fully test the front-facing camera, another addition to the iPhone 4, either. This camera is integral to Apple’s FaceTime videophone app, which works only for communicating between two iPhone 4 handsets.

iPhone: Upgrade?

From my early look at the iPhone 4, this handset appears to be a must-have for anyone with an original iPhone or iPhone 3G (the former won’t get the iOS 4 upgrade at all, while the 3G won’t support some features). And people who have an iPhone 3GS will find this a worthy upgrade, too.

Unlike the previous jump, from the iPhone 3G to the 3GS–which focused on slight performance improvements–the iPhone 4 bolsters the hardware’s digital imaging capabilities and its display, making it a comprehensive and measurable upgrade over its predecessor.

Has this problem frustrated you too? If so, just follow the step by step guide below to learn how to remove DRM protection from iTunes purchased M4V movies and TV shows and convert iTunes M4V to Zune MP4 or Zune WMV for playback on Microsoft Zune.

The only tool you need is Media Converter Pro, which acts as a DRM Removal, a Video Converter, an HD Video Converter and an Audio Converter.

Step 1. Download Media Converter Pro, install and launch it. ( free download )

Step 2. Add iTunes M4V files

You can import the DRM M4V files in three ways:

a. Load files by clicking the “Add…” button.
b. Directly drag and drop files to the left main window.
c. Right click on the left main window, click “Add files”.

Step 3. Select the output format

By clicking the “Audio files to:” or “Video files to:” box, you can select the output format for the source M4V files. To convert M4V for Zune, choose “Microsoft Zune” from the category and then choose Zune MPEG-4 or Zune WMV as the output format.

Note: This M4V to Zune Converter also allows you to customize the video/audio parameters for the output files if you are not satisfied with the default settings or cannot find the most appropriate output format for your specific mobile player. Just click the “Settings…” button to adjust the video/audio parameters.

Step 4. Start to convert iTunes M4V to Zune

Click the “Start” button to begin to convert iTunes M4V files. Then, you can enjoy the iTunes M4V movies or TV shows without any limitation.

It is also recommended checking out this DRM Removal Software Review to find a DRM Remover that best fits your needs and helps you convert M4V to Zune as well.

If you are fond of some video clips from a DVD movie and want to add it to the slideshow you are making with your Windows Movie Maker, you may get into the trouble that the DVD format is incompatible with Windows Movie Maker. The following step by step tutorial may help you out of the headache.

Before getting started, let’s know something about DVD and Windows Movie Maker.

General DVDs have CSS copy protection in MPEG-2 or VOB format.

Windows Movie Maker is a totally free program that comes with Windows XP Home Edition, Windows XP Media Center Edition, Windows XP Professional, and Windows Vista (also called Windows DVD Maker). Windows Windows Movie Maker supports WMV, AVI and MPG video files.

To put DVD movie clips into Windows Movie Maker, you need to convert your DVD to WMV or AVI video first, and then load it into your Windows Movie Maker project. I’d prefer using Aimersoft DVD Ripper to do this. ( Free Download )

Step 1. Import DVD movie

Insert your DVD disc into your DVD-Rom, then run the software, click “Load DVD” button and add the DVD file. You can also add DVD/IFO from your hard disk by clicking “Load File”

Note: This DVD Ripper can rip copyright protected DVD movies, but you should remember it is illegal to rip DVD for any business purpose.

Step 2. Choose output format/subtitle/audio track, trim the movie

After you load the DVD files, click the “Profile” drop-down list to select “WMV 每 Windows Media Video (*.wmv)” or “AVI 每 Audio Video Interleaved (*.avi)” as the output format.

A regular DVD movie has multiple “Subtitles” and “Audio Tracks”. This DVD Ripper allows you to select any available subtitle and audio track to convert to the specific video/audio format you need.

If you just want a certain part of the DVD movie, you can click the “Trim” button to cut the DVD movie. You can drag the timeline bar to set the start and end time or simply input the “Start Time” and “End Time” to get the specific part of the movie.

Note: If you want to output higher quality video, click the “Settings” button to open the panel. There you can customize video bitrate, audio bitrate, resolution, framerate, etc.

Step 3. Start to convert

After the above steps, you just need to click “Start” and wait for the conversion to be finished. It takes about 40 minutes to convert a common two hours DVD movie.

Step 4. Import the output video into Windows Movie Maker

Run Windows Movie Maker. Tn the “Movie Task” bar, click “Add Video” to browse your computer and locate and import the converted files. Then you can start to make personal movies.

Tip: Many users may wonder how they can convert Windows Movie Maker file (*.MSWMM) to other video format or burn MSWMM to DVD. A *.MSWMM is a project file of Windows Movie Maker; it is not a video file (more like a record file). You can open *.MSWMM file in Windows Movie Maker (click “File -> Open Project Project…”) and save the movie to your computer: go to the “Tasks” bar, click “Finish Movie” and then click “Save to my computer”.

“I downloaded a movie from itunes that is a m4v format. Now I need to remove the DRM so that I can copy it to my Windows Mobile Pocket PC to view. Anybody recommend a software utility?”

Has similar problems frustrated you too? If so, just follow the step by step guide below to learn how to remove DRM protection from iTunes purchased M4V movies and TV shows and convert iTunes M4V to MP4 for playback on popular MP3/MP4 players or other mobile devices.

The only tool you need is Media Converter Pro, which acts as a DRM Removal, a Video Converter, an HD Video Converter and an Audio Converter.

Step 1. Download Media Converter Pro, install and launch it. ( Free Download )

Step 2. Add iTunes M4P M4V files

You can import the DRM M4V files in three ways:

a. Load files by clicking the “Add…” button.
b. Directly drag and drop files to the left main window.
c. Right click on the left main window, click “Add files”

Step 3. Select the output format

By clicking the “Audio files to:” or “Video files to:” box, you can select the output format for the source M4V files. For example, if you want to convert DRM iTunes M4V for your PSP, you can choose “Game Hardware” from the profile category list and choose “PSP Video MPEG-4(*.mp4)” as the output format.

Note: This M4V to MP4 Converter also allows you to customize the video/audio parameters for the output files if you are not satisfied with the default settings or cannot find the most appropriate output format for your specific mobile player. Just click the “Settings…” button to make the settings.

The following article will share with you how to download YouTube videos for free, convert YouTube to MP4, convert YouTube to AVI, convert YouTube to MOV, convert YouTube to 3GP, convert YouTube to iPod, Zune, PSP, BlackBerry, etc. and burn YouTube videos to DVD. It is composed of three parts:

Part 1. How to free download YouTube videos

If you’ve got a high speed Internet connection and a video file you’d like to download for your mobile player, the easiest method is with the Zamzar website.

The steps are quite simple. When your video has been downloaded to the format you specified, you’ll receive an email with a link to download the file. Remember that Zamzar has a 100MB limit on videos, so if the video you are going to download is larger than 100MB, you’d have to turn to a software application to help you download it. Here I’d recommend using the free version of Cucusoft YouTube Mate (for downloading and playback).

Part 2. How to convert YouTube to MP4 AVI MOV 3GP WMV iPod Zune

If you need to convert downloaded videos from FLV to another format such as MP4, AVI, MOV, 3GP, WMV, you may directly turn to YouTube Mate or get a video converter to help you. I’d recommend using Aimersoft Video Converter Ultimate to convert the downloaded FLV files. ( Free Download )

The steps are quite simple:

1. Click the “Add” button to load FLV video files or you can also load the files by clicking the “Files -> Add files” on the toolbar;

2. Choose your file, and click the “Profile” drop-down menu and choose the output format as you want;

3. Click the “Start” button to start converting FLV to MP4, AVI, MOV, 3GP, WMV, iPod, Zune, etc.

Part 3. How to burn YouTube videos to DVD

If you want to burn YouTube videos to DVD, you need to get a DVD burning tool. Aimersoft Video Converter Ultimate can also help you out. It combines the features of ripping DVD, converting video and burning DVD into one program.

1. Load the downloaded FLV files that you want to burn to DVD, and then click the “Burn” button to start to burn.

2. Select DVD menu from left bar. Set background picture/music from your local hard disk.

3. Name DVD label and set video quality and DVD disk type.

4. Click “Start” button to start burn the videos into DVD.

The iPad is the first tablet computer developed by Apple Inc. It is part of a device category between a smartphone and a laptop computer. A beautiful 9.7-inch high-resolution display makes iPad perfect for watching any kind of video: from HD movies and TV shows to podcasts and music videos. However, if you want to watch Blu-Ray DVD movies on your iPad, you need to rip Blu-Ray disc to iPad compatible video file and then transfer the output video to iPad with the sync of iTunes. The following tutorial is going to show you how to rip Blu-Ray DVD to iPad compatible video files, helping you watch Blu-Ray movies on the go.

To watch the Blu-Ray movies, what you need to do is simply rip the Blu-Ray DVD into a video format supported by iPad. After you have the files in a compatible format upload them into your iPad through the sync of iTunes Library.

To rip Blu-Ray DVD to iPad video you need to download the Blu-Ray to iPad Ripper. ( free download )

Step 1. Launch Blu-Ray to iPad Ripper and add Blu-Ray Files

Click the “BD/DVD ROM” button to extract Blu-Ray movie from disc. Or click the “BD/DVD Folder” if you would like to add Blu-Ray files from your PC. The video information of the loaded Blu-Ray movie will be shown in the file list. You can rename the output videos in the file list, select the chapters/titles to convert, choose DVD subtitle and audio track, etc. Double click a selected file, and you will be able to preview it.

Step 2. Choose Output Format

Extend the “Format” drop-down list and choose “iPad” from the category. From the subcategory, you may choose “iPad HD Video (*.mp4)”, “iPad Video H.264 (*.mp4)” or “iPad Video MPEG-4 (*.mp4)” as the output format.

If you want to customize a profile for the output video, you can click the “Settings” button next to the Format field to open the “Profile” window and set video resolution, frame rate, bit rate, encoder, etc. See the figure below:

Step 3. Click “Start” to Rip Blu-Ray DVD to iPad

Check the file list and make sure all the required files are selected. Then click the “Convert” button to start ripping Blu-Ray DVD to iPad.

Step 4. Transfer Output Video to iPad

Connect your iPad to the computer and sync it with iTunes.

To play the movie on your iPad, select Videos then Movies from the iPad Main Menu. You will see an alphabetical list of the available movies. Click on the desired movie to play it.

Note: There are a few tips and tricks you won’t let slip while using this Blu-Ray to iPad Ripper to rip Blu-Ray disc for viewing on iPad, such as trimming DVD length, cropping video edges, adding text/image watermaters, capturing pictures from the movie, applying a video effect, etc.

Cons

Beta compression feature is slow

Bottom Line

RipIt’s strength remain its simplicity and ability to rip just about any disc you throw at it.

OS compatibility: OS X 10.5 or later
Processor compatibility: Universal
Price as rated: $20

[Editor's note: The MPAA and most media companies argue that you can't legally copy or convert commercial DVDs for any reason. We (and others) think that, if you own a DVD, you should be able to override its copy protection to make a backup copy or to convert its content for viewing on other devices. Currently, the law isn't entirely clear one way or the other. So our advice is: If you don't own it, don't do it. If you do own it, think before you rip.]

As should be evident by our 2009 Macworld Editor’s Choice award, we think highly of The Little App Factory’s $20 RipIt. As explained by my colleague Dan Frakes, RipIt may be one of the easiest tools ever created. Simply insert a commercial DVD, click a Rip button, and within 35 or 40 minutes on most Macs, you have a copy of the disc in the form of a .dvdmedia file or VIDEO_TS folder, playable with Apple’s DVD Player application or ready to convert to another format.

Since our last review, The Little App Factory has added a beta compression feature, 64-bit support for Snow Leopard, and Growl support; has made the program more adept at dealing with “difficult” discs; and made RipIt’s rips more compatible with apps such as HandBrake, DVD2OneX, and Roxio’s Toast 10 Titanium. Except for the compression feature, there’s no indication in the interface that anything has changed—insert a disc, click Rip, wait, and you’re done.

The latest version of RipIt carries a Compress button that includes a small “beta” banner, indicating that work on this feature remains to be done. Within RipIt’s Compress preference you choose the format for ripping your movie. Your choices are High Quality MP4, Apple TV, iPhone/Touch, XBox360, and PS3. When you click the Compress button, RipIt rips the discs main feature (or, in the case of a TV shows disc, the disc’s episodes).

The beta label is appropriate. With RipIt 1.4, I was unable to use the compression feature with Pixar’s Wall-E. However, when it failed I was prompted to send a report of the failure to The Little App Factory. The company strives to obtain discs that don’t work so they can update the program to work with such discs. Perhaps the proof of the usefulness of the reporting feature is that using RipIt 1.4.3, I was able to successfully rip Wall-E’s main feature with the compression option.

Although it’s nice that RipIt now lets you rip main features and episodes and compress them in one step, it’s a very slow process. Using the Apple TV preset, it took the program just over 57 minutes to rip and compress Wall-E on my quad-core 2.66GHz Mac Pro. In comparison, HandBrake did the same job in about 32 minutes. I also tried the compression feature with the first disc of Six Feet Under, Season 1. HandBrake ripped and converted the three episodes in 53 minutes. RipIt took more than twice that long—1 hour and 56 minutes. The resulting video looked great, but no better than the HandBrake rip.

Take compression out of the testing and RipIt performs well. The rip of the entire Wall-E disc took 28 minutes and 3 seconds. The Six Feet Under disc was ripped in 26 minutes and 20 seconds.

RipIt’s strength remain its simplicity and ability to rip just about any disc you throw at it. The compression feature, once finalized and faster, will be welcome.

Currently, the law isn’t entirely clear one way or the other. So our advice is: If you don't own it, don’t do it. If you do own it, think before you rip.]

iSkysoft Studio’s $39 DVD Ripper is one iteration of a DVD-ripping tool sold by iSkysoft as well as its affiliates, Wondershare and Aimersoft. The code within these applications is the same, only the interface differs. In its Wondershare incarnation it’s called Wondershare DVD Ripper and, at $45, costs $6 more than iSkysoft DVD Ripper. Under the Aimersoft label it’s known as DVD Ripper and costs the same $39 as the iSkysoft branded version. There may be others version of the same product as well. While iSkysoft DVD Ripper may have more bells and whistles than some other ripping applications, those extra features don’t translate into better looking videos.

Like HandBrake, iSkysoft DVD Ripper not only strips commercial DVDs of their copy protection, but additionally converts the resulting videos to other formats. iSkysoft DVD Ripper offers 74 different output formats—far more than any one person needs—but at least its Format pop-up menu organizes these formats into groups that include Common Video, Common Audio, iPod, iPhone, Apple TV, PSP/PS3, Mobile Phone, Portable Multimedia Device, Network Video, Others, HD, and All Profiles. You needn’t settle on one of these preconfigured settings. If you like, you can choose one, click a Settings button, and then adjust some of the settings. For example, you can adjust a video’s resolution, frame rate, and bit rate , as well as and the video’s audio sample rate, channel number, and bit rate. You can’t, however, save an altered setting for later.

And that’s unfortunate, because some of the preset aren’t very good. For example, the Apple TV H.264 preset I chose produced videos of poor quality—with obvious artifacts and less-than-crisp images. Additionally, unlike HandBrake, iSkysoft DVD Ripper can’t automatically identify 4:3 video and size the resulting movie correctly. A 640-by-480 TV episode I used to test the program displayed large black bars on either side.

I reported my results to the program’s developers and they suggested I tweak the preset’s resolution, frame rate, and bit rate settings. After working around a bug that causes the resolution setting to revert back to its original state when you change the frame rate, I ripped my test files again and saw some improvement, but the resulting videos still weren’t as crisp as what I saw in HandBrake rips using identical settings.

The application gives you the option to choose the audio track you want to use (provided the disc supports multiple audio tracks) as well as apply subtitles to the converted video. Unfortunately, those subtitles are burned into the movie—unlike with subtitles created by HandBrake, you can’t turn them off. iSkysoft DVD Ripper lets you see a preview of your video before you convert it. This is helpful for those times when you want to be sure you’re ripping the desired portion of your disc. But having the Preview option on slows down the rip. Regrettably, it’s on by default so if you want faster rips you have to switch off the option every time you rip a disc. Additionally, there are controls for trimming the beginning and end of the video; cropping it; and adjusting brightness, contrast, and saturation. You can also adjust deinterlacing and add filter effects such as gray (black and white), emboss, and sepia. The last option seems overtly gimmicky.

Even with all these options and presets, the results of the application’s rips aren’t very good. I ripped Wall-E and the first disc of Six Feet Under, Season 1, with HandBrake and iSkysoft DVD Ripper and the HandBrake results were better—with less pixelation and crisper images.

iSkysoft DVD Ripper was both faster and slower than HandBrake in my tests. I ripped Wall-E and the Six Feet Under disc with both applications using the Apple TV preset (the tweaked version as recommended by iSkysoft). DVD Ripper was faster than HandBrake with the Wall-E rip, taking 31 minutes and 43 seconds to HandBrake’s 32 minutes and 16 seconds. It wasn’t as fast as HandBrake, however, with the Six Feet Under disc. The three episodes from that disc took DVD Ripper 1 hour and 6 minutes to rip when HandBrake took just 53 minutes.

Macworld’s buying advice

iSkysoft DVD Ripper is more expensive and produces poorer results than competing products such as HandBrake. Regardless of its cost or the names it bears, it’s not the best choice for those interested in ripping the commercial DVDs they own.

Step 1. Launch Aiseesoft DVD Ripper and add DVD Movie ( free download )

Tips: This DVD Ripper can load three DVD sources. You can load your DVD from DVD drive, DVD folder in your PC and also DVD IFO file.

Step 2. Output Settings

This piece of software can help you convert DVD to video/audio files for playback on Apple devices such as iPod, iPad and iPhone. Click the “Profile” drop down list to select the format that best fits your needs.

For example, if you want to convert DVD to iPod video, just select “iPod Video MPEG-4 (*.mp4)” as the output format. If you want to customize the output video, you can click the “Settings” button next to the profile field to open the Settings window and set video resolution, frame rate, bit rate, encoder, etc. See the figure below:

Step 3. Select Subtitle and Audio

Regular DVD movies usually have several subtitles such as English, French, German, etc. You can select one you prefer. You can also delete the subtitle by selecting “No Subtitle”. Selecting Audio is the same.

After the above steps, click the “Start” button to start conversion.

There are a few tips and tricks you need to pay attention to while using Aiseesoft DVD Ripper to convert DVD to iPad/iPod/iPhone video/audio files.

Tips 1. Trim Movie

If you just want to convert a clip from your DVD movie, you can click the “Trim” button to pop up the “Trim” dialog. You can trim a duration of the selected title or chapter by either dragging the “Start Time” and “End Time” sliders or setting the time parameters in corresponding fields.

Tips 2. Apply Movie Effect

If you want to change the original video effect, you can click the “Effect” icon to set the video brightness, contrast, saturation, etc. You can also apply special effects to your movie.

Tips 3. Crop Video

You can remove black edges around the movie by popping up the “Crop” dialogue.

It is recommended that you choose Aiseesoft DVD Ripper for Mac if you want to convert DVD to iPod/iPad/iPhone video/audio files on Mac OS X.

Would it be great to have a way to convert your music, video and DVDs into a format you can use on these devices?

The sheer volume of different file types and formats available can be overwhelming. SoundTaxi products make it easy with just a few clicks to get a conversion started with the right format for your needs.

SoundTaxi products system requirement are Windows, Vista, Windows 7 and XP operating systems. Any file that can be played in Windows Media Player, QuickTime Player or Real Player installed (depending on the file format you’re converting) on your PC. For example, DRM protected and non-protected WMA, M4P, AAC, WAV, MP3, OGG, OMA, WMV files etc. SoundTaxi also supports Real Audio files and audio books.

While different devices use different formats and file types, SoundTaxi products make it convenient and efficient to convert (or rip) all your various media files into a wide range of formats. Audio formats such as MP3, M4A, WMA & WAV and video formats such as MP4, WMV and AVI.

It will also allow you to burn your converted music on to cds. So you have all your purchased music at your finger tips and on the player you desire.

Looking for a converter that does everything? Say hello to Tunebite 7.
Music, audiobooks, videos for PC, cell phones, iPods. Tunebite does it all.

Need more than 100 file formats?

Tunebite has them all. Audio and video. With or without DRM copy protection. For your PC, the entertainment center in your living room, your car’s CD player, your cell phone or your Apple iPod, Tunebite easily converts your entertainment in the right format without sacrificing any quality.

Since 2004, Tunebite has been named the best universal converter and program for removing copy protection legally several times over! Download Tunebite 7 now!

A word about the technology

27 virtual soundcards provide high speed digital dubbing of legal re-recordings of copy protected songs at 54 times the speed. A virtual CD burner takes care of audiobooks quickly. Several audio recordings and partial recordings in several steps ensure that films are of the highest quality when re-recording them and converting DRM copy protected media. Got it?

Good thing that the Tunebite engineers know what they are doing and do not have to overwhelm you with it. Tunebite takes care of it for you. Download Tunebite 7 now!

A word about the quality

In order to maintain our standard of quality for music, audiobooks, videos and films, Tunebite has innovative features that no other software has. Converting files while sacrificing quality is not in our M.O. Therefore, there is a promise of quality with PerfectAudio and a perfected process, which only allows for the very best results. It also informs you of problems encountered during the conversion process and offers tips for support. Download Tunebite 7 now!

Is the PC a problem? Tunebite has the solution for HD movies and videos

In order to legally remove copy protection from films via re-recording, films must be photographed frame by frame during playback. The higher the definition of the film (e.g. HD), the greater your PC’s operational capabilities have to be. Such a process quickly pushes affordable PCs to their limits. But even here, Tunebite has a solution that no other software can provide. Download Tunebite 7 now!

Every device – every file format

MP3 players, PSP, cell phones, MP4 players, PDAs, multimedia players, Windows Media Player or the PC Media Center – several devices in numerous file formats. With the Tunebite Platinum format converter, you can reliably convert music, audiobooks, video clips and HD films in digital quality, e.g. H.264, AVC or one of the hundred other file formats in Tunebite. The highest possible user friendliness and the simplest operation of the program are guaranteed via pre-configured formats for many device types. You do not need to know all the technical details of your device, you just simply need to select your device. Download Tunebite 7 now!

Individual profiles to optimize settings

The Tunebite file converter allows you to select individual settings to adjust videos to the capabilities and resolution of your portable playback device before converting the files. This enables you to use lower end devices to play back videos and significantly reduces file size, which frees up more space to optimize your entertainment on your portable device.

Many settings are pre-configured in Tunebite and there is no need to be an expert to be able to convert files optimally. But no fear experts; Tunebite offers you individual options for the highest demands. Download Tunebite 7 now!

“I have a windows media file of a show that I’m trying to get on my ipod. I drag the file over to itunes and it doesn’t even react. Ss there some kind of software or website that’ll let me convert it or something? What kind of video files does itunes play?”

Has this problem frustrated you too? If so, just follow the step by step guide below to learn how to remove DRM from protected WMV files, convert Windows Media Video (.WMV) files to iTunes format, transfer WMV files to iTunes library for playback on Apple iPod/iPhone without DRM restriction.

The only tool you need is Media Converter Pro, which acts as a DRM Removal, a Video Converter, an HD Video Converter and an Audio Converter.

Step 1. Download Media Converter Pro, install and launch it. ( free download )

Step 2. Add protected WMV files

You can import DRM protected WMA WMV files in three ways:

a. Load files by clicking the “Add…” button.

b. Directly drag and drop files to the left main window.

c. Right click on the left main window, click “Add files”.

Step 3. Select the output format

By clicking the “Convert video to:” box, you can select the output video format for the source WMV files. For example, if you want to watch the DRM protected WMV video on your iPod Touch, you can choose “iPod” from the profile category list and choose “iPod Touch MPEG-4(*.mp4)” as the output format.

Note: This DRM removal software also allows you to customize the video/audio parameters for the output files if you are not satisfied with the default settings or cannot find the most appropriate output format for your specific mobile player. Just click the “Settings…” button to make the settings.

Step 4. Start to convert protected WMA WMV files

Click the “Start” button to begin to convert DRM WMV files. Then, you can add Windows Media Video (.WMV) files to iTunes library and watch WMV files on Apple iPod and iPhone without any limitation.
